There will be an agreement in whatever variety of actions, so they be each honest and natural in their hour. – Ralph Waldo Emerson
What would you say to the person you were five years ago? What will you say to the person you’ll be in five years?
(Author: Corbett Barr)
sit still and fly forth
let life be what it will be
breath, laugh, and smile more
5 years ago at 30 years old I was about 2 ½ years along in recovery from a car accident where I suffered a traumatic brain injury. A bulleted list like this makes it very clear the things I would want myself to understand and take to heart.
- You don’t have to be disabled forever
- You will find love
- Don’t try to plan and force things, just let them happen as they will. Maybe with a little encouraging here and there but no forcing.
- Look at life from a different perspective. More of an all encompassing big picture. Realize that you are just in this one moment. No matter how terrible or terrific it is, this moment will end.
- Don’t take things too seriously.
- Smile more often.
- Laugh good naturedly.
- Tell those close that you love them often.
- Keep your eyes and your heart open to new opportunities for growth.
- Write often.
5 years from now
I try not to dwell on past hurts and injustices. I am learning to live more in the moment and not dwell on what I wish would be.
My new born son lives in this moment. The most beautiful genuine smile I have ever seen litterally lights up his face when your smile is the first thing he sees upon waking.
5 year in the future Sean better be showing young Kaius how to live life as a genuine, honest, and life loving person as he can be.
