The Changing of the Leaves

I am the center of this twirling universe

Chlorophyll drained bodies

Encompass me in a flying mosaic

Colors flowing out,

Each leaf bleeds green,

Morphing into brown, red, gold.

Assuming its death mask, each leaf is

Blown into anonymity by an indifferent wind.

Soaring and dancing,

Ambling and aimless.

My autumnal aura swirls away,

Haphazardly strewing confetti on the grass,

An October carpet beneath my feet.
